The Mt. Hood Highway (Route 26) out of Portland is one of the busiest tourist routes inDSC01807.JPG (55265 bytes) Oregon as people take advantage of recreational opportunities afforded by the Cascades and beautiful Mt. Hood. Wasson Bros. Winery does a huge retail trade from its location on the Highway as drivers enter Sandy. The winery’s reputation was built upon its deft hand with fruit wines such as blackberry, boysenberry, blueberry, peach and rhubarb. A solid wall of awards, ribbons and medals attest to their sDSC01806.jpg (39045 bytes)tature as perhaps the best fruit wine producer in the country. The winery also produces and has the equipment to expand production of vinifera grape wines, the grapes for which are currently supplied by the owners'  vineyard in Oregon City, which is also offered for sale.

DSC01819.JPG (61489 bytes)THE BUSINESS
Jim and twin brother John have operated Wasson Bros. for over 20 years but now realize it’s time to retire. This is a turn-key operation that has grossed between just under $210,000 in 2006 and almost $230,000 in 2005. The Wasson's say they have passed on a number of opportunities to expand into new markets. There is a continuous supply of fruit and berries in the Willamette Valley, making this portion of the business unconstrained by the current or future shortages of vinifera winegrapes. Jim’s home and vineyard in Oregon City, including 6 producing acres of Pinot Noir, Riesling, Muscat and Gewurztraminer is also available for $650,000. The home and vineyard are on a total of 11.6 acres adjacent to and with use of a small airstrip.
